This exhibit of wooden sculptures, artist books and drawings explores the form of historic water towers. These built structural “histories” have become about our imagination. For the artist, their anthropomorphic qualities are symbolic remnants of economical and historical ideals. Each fully illustrates a diagrammatic landscape with a presence of theater. Yet, they are very ephemeral, disappearing, and temporarily, holding on to a moment. It is the hope of the artist that the sculptures are ambivalent, yet familiar, occupying an almost intelligible existence in terms of their function, the bizarre presence, as they sit on the open prairies like icons.
